Artisans
Tom Vincent has worked on micro-enterprise and poverty alleviation in ceramics and reverse painted glass and furniture in rural workshops in Lima, Peru, as well as Ghana. He has designed for artisans with Aid To Artisans and USAID. These products sold at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Cost Plus and independent importers.
As an Aid to Artisans consultant during multiple trips to Peru and Ghana, I designed and worked in rural areas and economically depressed cities designing products and training artisan groups to create goods for sale in the US and European markets.
These projects were highly successful, generating major purchase orders for retailers such as Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Cost Plus, and multiple independent importers.
The experiences I had were compelling and what I consider to be the most satisfying of my career.
